Review Policy

I am more than happy to take requests from other readers as to books to review, or to consider a book submitted by an author, publisher, or agent for review. However, there are a few factors that will play a role in determining which books I actually review and what kind of consideration I give each book.

In addition, there is a certain consideration I give every book I read with the intent to review, whether it was requested or not, as well as guarantees I simply will not make.

Considerations

  1. I give all books at least 50 pages to determine whether or not to continue reading. In other words, I will not choose to mark a book as DNF before I have read a full 50 pages.
    • If I give a book a DNF, I will not review the book unless it was so grossly horrible I feel a warning is required beyond simply marking it as DNF.

On Requests

  1. Just because I say I will consider the book for review, does not mean I will actually review the book. It means I will consider the book for review. Sometimes, books are merely adequate enough for me to finish, but not worth the energy a review would take.
    • If I do not provide a full review of the book, I will at least provide a 1-5 star rating.
  2. All book reviews written by me will be honest in my opinion, but my opinion will be detailed. If I hate a book enough to review it and say I hate it, I will at least give a reason why. Opinions are subjective, after all.
  3. As you can see by checking my "Planned Reading" page, I have a growing list of books I plan on reading, as well as books necessary to meet my reading and reviewing goals through the challenges I participate in. Do not expect me to review your request right away.
  4. Books that fit into my preferred genres and authors will almost always receive preference. You can get an idea of what that might mean by checking out my "Favorite Reads" page.
  5. On the flip side, there are certain books that I won't - will not - entertain. Books on business, politics, finance, international affairs, anything unethical or discriminatory, and no memoirs or biographies of figures involved in any of the above, I will not read Twilight, 50 Shades, or anything of that ilk. (Yes, I have, and no, I won't.)
If after that you would still like to submit a book for review, or request that I read/review a book you are interested in, or interested in my take on, Contact Me using the form and I'll respond as quickly as I can.
